Privacy Policy — Flow
Flow is a music visualizer. It draws pictures from audio that is already playing on your phone. This policy explains, in plain terms, what the app touches and what leaves your device.
The short version
- Audio is never recorded, stored, or uploaded. It is analysed as it plays and thrown away.
- Flow has no account, no login, and no analytics.
- The only data that leaves your phone is what Google Play and RevenueCat need to process and restore a purchase.
Audio
With your permission, Flow captures the audio other apps are playing, using Android's playback capture feature. Each short chunk of audio is turned into numbers (levels and frequencies) to drive the visuals, then discarded. Nothing is written to storage and nothing is transmitted. Flow never uses the microphone.
Granting capture requires two Android prompts: the microphone permission (Android requires it for this audio API even though the microphone is never used) and the screen-share dialog that issues the capture token. You can revoke either at any time in Android Settings.
Track title and cover art (optional)
If — and only if — you turn it on yourself, Flow reads the media session of the app that is playing, to show the track title, artist and cover art. Android exposes media sessions through notification access, so the app declares a notification listener for that purpose alone.
Flow does not read your notifications. The listener component deliberately implements none of the notification callbacks; it exists only because the platform will not hand over media sessions otherwise. Titles and artwork are shown on screen and never stored or transmitted. The feature is off until you enable it, and turning it off in Android Settings stops it immediately.
Purchases
Purchases are handled by Google Play. Flow uses RevenueCat to check whether a purchase is active and to restore it on a new device. For that, RevenueCat receives a random app-generated user id, your purchase receipt information, and basic device and country information. Flow never sees or stores your payment details.
| Data | Why | Leaves the device? |
|---|---|---|
| Captured audio | Drawing the visuals | No |
| Track title, artist, cover art | Showing what is playing (opt-in) | No |
| Purchase receipt, random user id, device/country | Unlocking and restoring purchases | Yes — Google Play and RevenueCat |
Children
Flow is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.
Your choices
- Revoke audio capture or notification access at any time in Android Settings.
- Manage or cancel a subscription in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions.
- To have purchase records deleted, contact us at the address below; we will ask RevenueCat to delete the associated app user id.
